That's not the MGS icon. That's Kojima Productions' icon.

However, the same icon is used in MGS3 for the FOX Unit. So, I guess it is the MGS icon, in a sense.

there were games i used to get excited over though as ive grown older most games dont excite much pre release anymore. =( mgs5 looks like a good game though. i would get into the series but meh it's too late to hop on.

Hopefully, it is MGS5. Kojima's notorious for being misleading when it comes to these kinds of things. (ala MGS Touch)

If MGS5 does star Raiden, I can easily see it being a prequel taking place after MGS2 and before MGS4.

It's not too late. You can still buy the MGS Essentials Collection that contains MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 for the PS2.

Best $30 I've ever spent.
